Personal Data Protection Law

Arel Law Firm carries out many projects in different sectors within the scope of our clients’ compliance with all data privacy legislation, primarily Law No. 6698 on Protection of Personal Data. In these projects, we basically analyze our clients’ business processes and develop recommendations to ensure compliance with legislation.

Protection of Personal Data
Information is one of the most important values of modern life. Every day, government institutions and private organizations collect, store, process, and transfer significant amounts of data about individuals. Advances in technology have made it possible for people to share information globally, which can lead to dangerous situations where individuals lose control over their personal data and it is used against them.
The protection of personal data is a right that allows individuals to prevent unauthorized use of their data by other persons or organizations. With the adoption of the Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK) in Turkey, a new era has begun. This law grants citizens certain rights against real and legal persons defined as data controllers while imposing various obligations on data controllers. These obligations particularly affect the IT and human resources departments of companies.

Arel Law Office, in order to ensure compliance with the Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK), provides our clients with:

  • Identification and Analysis of Clients’ Obligations under the Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK)
  • Providing necessary support for establishing data recording systems that clients need to use to fulfill their obligations, coordinating with IT departments, and ensuring that existing data recording systems comply with KVKK requirements.
  • Preparation and/or Revision of Contracts That Clients Must Conclude with Their Customers or Business Partners under KVKK
  • Providing in-house awareness training to all relevant departments within the Data Controller (legal, HR, IT, marketing, public relations, etc.) to ensure full compliance with KVKK obligations
